What salt air asks of a system
Coastal exposure is a harder test than Highveld weather in one specific respect: corrosion. It's the clearest illustration of why material choice is a real decision rather than a budget line. Aluminium does not rust, which is what makes it the appropriate specification in salt air, and it carries a 15-year guarantee. Chromadek® is pre-painted steel over galvanising, protected by its coating, and carries 10 years — an excellent inland choice.
