What suits Sandton homes
Sandton's newer builds lean architectural: flat fascias, clean parapets, large glazed openings onto the garden. That language rewards a system with a straight, uninterrupted line — which is why adjustable louvre awnings are the most requested option here. Closed, the blades read as a solid roof; open, they let winter sun onto the patio without the heaviness of a fixed structure.
Because so many of these patios are the main entertaining space, we're usually specifying for evening use as much as daytime shade. Downlights recessed into an insulated ceiling, or a louvre system sized to cover a full seating and braai layout, tend to matter more than raw square metres.

Every louvre and IBR system we build carries a full all-round gutter system with multiple downpipe outlets, and our louvre systems are 95% watertight once closed. That matters more here than it sounds — the difference between a patio you abandon at the first rumble and one you keep using is how fast the roof seals and where the water goes.
