Luxury Carports: Why Fixed IBR Beats Shade Netting

Your car deserves better than a sagging net. Fixed IBR gives vehicles the same architecture your patio gets.

Luxury Carports: Why Fixed IBR Beats Shade Netting

The problem with shadeports

Netting fades, sags and tears; poles rust; hail goes straight through. It also does nothing for your property's look — or value.

The Fixed IBR alternative

Our most cost-effective awning doubles as a luxury carport: solid IBR sheeting, clean lines matching the house, and the same full gutter system as our premium range — so no waterfall down your windscreen.

Options that matter

  • Solar-control polycarbonate panels for filtered natural light
  • Black, Charcoal, Bronze or Traffic White to match the house
  • Chromadek® or aluminium with 10/15-year guarantees
  • Multiple downpipe outlets for proper drainage

Value beyond the car

A carport that reads as architecture rather than an afterthought lifts street appeal — and hail protection on the Highveld pays for itself. Browse examples in the gallery, then get a quote from a photo of your driveway.

What shade netting actually gives you

Shade. That's the honest limit of it. A net keeps some sun off the paintwork and does nothing about hail, nothing about driving rain, and nothing about where water goes. It sags, it discolours, and it reads as temporary — because it is. On a Gauteng property that takes real summer storms, that's a lot of exposure for a car that cost more than the structure covering it.

What Fixed IBR gives you instead

A properly built roof, made to your measurements, with the same engineering as our patio awnings. Fixed IBR is our most cost-effective cover, which is exactly why it suits carports — it puts a real structure over the vehicles without premium-system pricing.

  • The same all-round gutter system as our awning range, with multiple downpipe outlets
  • Chromadek® or aluminium — 10-year and 15-year guarantees respectively
  • Solar-control polycarbonate options where you want light through part of the roof
  • Four finishes — Black, Charcoal, Bronze or Traffic White, matched to the house
  • Custom manufacture — built to your driveway, not a standard bay size

Hail is the real argument

Everything else about a carport is convenience. Hail is the part that costs money. A solid IBR roof over the vehicles is straightforward protection from the single weather event most likely to write a serious bill on a Gauteng driveway — and it does it without the annual replacement cycle a net eventually demands.

Why guttering belongs on a carport

People accept guttering on a patio and question it on a carport. It matters more here, not less: without it, a large roof discharges its entire volume over one edge, straight onto the driveway you walk across and the vehicles you're trying to protect. Multiple downpipe outlets let us route that into your existing stormwater instead.

Make it look like the house

The reason we call these luxury carports rather than car shelters is that they're specified like part of the building — colour matched to the window frames, roofline sitting with the house, a finished structure rather than a bolt-on. That's also what makes them work inside estates with architectural guidelines.

Getting a carport quoted

Photograph the driveway from far enough back to show the house behind it, note how many vehicles you need covered and the rough width, projection and height available, and mention any estate requirements. We'll quote material, finish and any polycarbonate sections, and confirm dimensions on site before manufacture.
