Location: Midrand · System: Stack Folding Doors

The brief
Seven panels that vanish to one side: this Midrand installation opens the entire living-room wall to the garden, then locks up tight behind shatterproof glass.
What we built
Smooth-glide hardware, keyed locking and full weather seals — open-plan living in summer, sealed comfort in winter.

Why seven panels rather than fewer
Panel count is a trade. Fewer, larger panels mean fewer frame lines and a cleaner view; more, narrower panels stack into a smaller footprint when open. On a full living-room wall, a seven-panel stack folder is what allows the entire opening to clear to one side — the wall genuinely disappears rather than partially retracting.
Our stack folding systems run from 2 to 7 panels, and the right number depends on the opening width and where you have space for the stack to sit when folded.
The specification behind it
- Aluminium vista stack folding doors, 2–7 panel configurations
- Shatterproof glass, single or double glazed
- Smooth-glide hardware with full weather seals
- Keyed locking
- 15-year guarantee on aluminium
Open in summer, sealed in winter
The reason this system suits Midrand's newer housing is that it does both jobs properly. Weather seals and keyed locking mean a fully closed, secure wall through winter and through storms; folding the panels away means genuine open-plan living in summer. A partially opening system gives you neither completely.
If you're considering the same
Send a photo of the opening with rough width and height, and tell us which side you'd want the panels to stack towards. More Midrand work, or compare single and double glazing.
