Location: Gauteng · System: Adjustable Louvre · Bronze

The brief
Warm bronze over the braai: this louvre turns the cooking corner into the social heart of the garden, whatever the weather is doing.
What we built
Bronze pairs beautifully with face-brick and timber — and the adjustable blades vent braai smoke upward when open, then seal against rain when the weather turns.

Why bronze over a braai area
Bronze is the finish for warm materials. Face brick, clay tile, natural stone and warm plaster all sit comfortably with it in a way they do not with charcoal or black, which can read as a cold interruption against a warm palette. Over a built-in braai — usually brick or stone itself — bronze keeps the whole area reading as one material family.
Why adjustable, not fixed
A braai area has a specific problem: heat and smoke need somewhere to go. A sealed roof traps both. Adjustable louvre blades let you open the roof while cooking and close it when the weather turns, which is a genuinely practical argument rather than an aesthetic one.

If you're considering the same
Tell us where the braai sits relative to the covered area when you send your photo and measurements — it affects how we specify the roof and where you'll want to be able to open it. Bronze also suits Pretoria East homes, where warm brickwork is the norm.
